Adani Green Energy Recognised for Water Conservation

Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL) announced today that it had been recognized for water conservation against consumption. DNV, a dependable international assurance organization, has awarded AGEL its Water Positive certification. According to a corporate statement, the verification statement shows that AGEL conserves more water than it uses.

For AGEL’s operational sites in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh, with a capacity higher than 200 MW, DNV conducted qualitative and quantitative assessments of the water balance index. According to the study, the water balance index is 1.12 (positive), exceeding the goal of becoming net water neutral by FY25.

The verification procedure included sample-based inspections and consideration of the methodology, measurement techniques, estimating methods, assumptions, and uncertainties in the AGEL-adopted water accounting process. Compared to the 3.5 KL/MWh regulatory limit for thermal power in FY23, AGEL has achieved a freshwater usage per unit of the generation that is 99.5% lower.
